Consider The Ravens

Mr. Peter Stanton

Luke 12:24-26

New International Version

24 Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds! 25 Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? 26 Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest?

God says not to not anxious and gives us good reason. He is the one who takes responsibility for our needs. He is in control of nature. God is managing creation. If you stop to look around at the natural world especially the small things—life continues. Jesus wants this to be an object lesson for us to trust in him for our ongoing needs. We have real needs, financial, health issues, emotional needs. God knows what we want and need. God is in control. He is all powerful and all knowing and all loving. He orders and commands us to trust in him. We can be at peace leaving our needs and wants in his hands. This is the general principal we can trust in for our lives.

I could have put a picture of bird killed by the side of road with a meme that suffering and death come to faithful people and life doesn’t work out well. Life is complex and messy and not neat. The Bible also acknowledges this truth. However that doesn’t change the principal that it is God’s responsibility to look after us, and we can trust him with our needs wants and our lives.
