Referrals and Rebates
Eligible patients can receive rebates from Medicare when you have a referral from your GP. You can obtain a referral by making an appointment with your GP and completing a ‘Mental Health Care Plan’. This referral entitles you to 6 plus a possible 4 further rebatable sessions per calendar year. You must bring this referral to your first appointment in order to be eligible for a Medicare rebate.
Many private health insurance companies also provide rebates for individual and couples therapy. Please check with your insurance provider and inform us in advance of you appointment if you intend to claim through a health fund.
We also provide services under the Transport Accident Commission, Victims of Crime, WorkCover and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
No referral is required for appointments with counsellors.
Standard Consultation: $190.00 (you pay $65.50 after Medicare rebate)
Concession: $165.00 (you pay $40.50 after Medicare rebate)
Note: Patients without a medicare referral may be eligible for a lower rate
Standard Consultation: $160.00 (you pay $75.50 after Medicare rebate)
Concession: $140.00 (you pay $55.50 after Medicare rebate)
Note: No after hours surcharge is added on child psychology appointments
Standard Consultation: $150.00 (you pay $65.20 after Medicare rebate)
Concession: $125.00 (you pay $40.20 after Medicare rebate)
Afterhours surcharge: $15.00 (from 4:30pm Mon-Fri)
Bulkbilling: May be offered under some situations of financial hardship
You may be able to access funding at Sovereignty Psychology from the following sources incuding:
- Victims of Crime
- Department of Veteran's Affairs, Australian Defence Force (Medibank)
- NIDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme): behaviour support, therapeutic support and early intervention supports for early childhood.
Standard consultation: $80.00
Concessional Consultation $60.00
Couple counselling: $100.00
Concessions may be offered under some circumstances
Skype or Telephone Sessions
Refer to the Counsellor / Psychologist fees.
Payment can be made via PayPal or credit card. Upon booking you will receive a text or email informing you of the time, date and Skype address to be used.
Assessment for Children
Please refer to the Child assessment page for specific fees.
Payment can made by credit card, EFTPOS or cash. If applicable, Medicare rebates and health fund rebates can be processed immediately after the conclusion of the session.
Failure to attend your appointment without providing 24 hours’ notice will incur a $55.00 charge. (Note this fee is NOT rebatable by Medicare but must be paid by the client)
